Scope

Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This Privacy Policy explains how Scope (the "App"), published by Christopher Pallant, trading as MoonFruit ("we", "us", "our"), handles information. Scope is built so that your quotes and business details stay on your iPhone. We do not run accounts or servers for the App, and we do not hold your information.

01Who we are

Scope is published by Christopher Pallant, trading as MoonFruit, based in the United Kingdom. For the limited purposes described in this policy, we are the data controller. You can contact us at moonfruitdev@outlook.com.

02Information we do not collect

Scope has no accounts, no log-in and no sign-up. We do not run servers that receive your data, and we do not collect, store, sell or have access to:

  • the quotes, line items, prices or notes you create;
  • your business details, logo or branding;
  • the names, addresses, email addresses or phone numbers of your clients; or
  • your name, email address or any other details that identify you.

The only exceptions are the information processed by our advertising provider, by Apple for purchases, and by Apple for optional diagnostics, as explained below.

03Data stored on your device

Everything you create in Scope is stored locally on your device, inside the App's own storage. It is protected by the security features of iOS, such as your device passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and Apple's data protection. We recommend keeping a passcode turned on.

Your clients' information

If you add details about your own clients or customers, that information stays on your device and we never receive it. You are responsible for handling your clients' personal information lawfully, for example under the UK GDPR, including telling them how you use it.

Sharing quotes

When you export a quote as a PDF and share it, for example by email, Messages, AirDrop or the Files app, it is sent by the app or service you choose. That app or service's own terms and privacy policy apply, and we do not see what you share.

Device permissions

If Scope asks for access to a feature of your device, such as your photo library to add a logo, that access is used only on your device for the purpose shown. You can change any permission at any time in your device's Settings.

04Backups & restoring

Because we do not store your data, we cannot back it up or recover it for you. You are responsible for backing up your data and restoring it if you change device, reinstall the App or simply want to keep a copy.

  • If Scope lets you export a backup file, you choose where it is saved (for example, the Files app or iCloud Drive). That location is controlled by you and its provider, not by us.
  • Your device's own backups, such as iCloud Backup or a backup to your computer, may include Scope's data depending on your settings. These backups are managed by Apple and by you.
  • If you delete the App without a backup, your data is permanently removed from the device and cannot be recovered.

05Advertising

Scope is free to download and shows ads. Revenue from ads pays for the running of the App and funds ongoing updates and improvements. Ads are provided by a third-party advertising provider using its software development kit (SDK) inside the App.

What the advertising provider may collect

To show ads, measure them and prevent fraud, the advertising provider may automatically collect information such as:

  • device and app information, such as device model, operating system version, language and App version;
  • your IP address and a general location derived from it (not your precise location);
  • advertising and device identifiers, including Apple's Advertising Identifier (IDFA) only if you allow tracking;
  • information about the ads you see and interact with, such as views and taps; and
  • diagnostic information, such as crash data and performance information related to ads.

The advertising provider never receives the content of your quotes, your business details or your clients' information.

Tracking and personalised ads

If the App wants to use information that tracks you across apps and websites owned by other companies, iOS will ask for your permission first through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, the IDFA is not shared and you will see ads that are not based on tracking. You can change this at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

Where the law requires it, for example in the UK and the European Economic Area, you will be asked for your consent before personalised ads are shown. If you decline, you may still see non-personalised ads, which are based on context such as the App itself and your general location rather than your activity.

Our advertising partners' commitments

We only work with advertising providers that are required, under their terms and applicable law, to provide the same or equal protection of user data as set out in this policy and as required by Apple's App Store Review Guidelines. The advertising provider processes information under its own privacy policy, which explains how it uses data and the choices available to you. It may process information outside the UK, using safeguards required by law, such as standard contractual clauses.

Turning ads off

You can remove ads completely with the one-off Remove Ads in-app purchase. Once ads are removed, the advertising SDK no longer shows ads to you.

06In-app purchase

The Remove Ads purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your name, payment card or billing details. The App only receives confirmation from Apple, on your device, that the purchase is active so it can turn ads off and restore your purchase. Apple's privacy policy applies to the information Apple processes for purchases.

07Diagnostics

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. These do not identify you, and we use them only to find and fix problems. You can turn this off in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.

08Legal basis (UK/EU users)

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, personal information is processed for advertising on the basis of your consent (for personalised ads and tracking) and our legitimate interests in funding the App through non-personalised ads, measuring ads and preventing fraud. Purchase information is processed by Apple to perform your contract with Apple. You can withdraw consent at any time, as described below.

09Data retention & deletion

  • Your data: stays on your device until you delete it in the App or delete the App. Deleting the App removes its data from your device. Backups you have made are kept wherever you saved them until you delete them.
  • Accounts: there is no account to create, so there is no account to delete.
  • Advertising data: is kept by the advertising provider in line with its own privacy policy and retention periods.

Withdrawing consent

You can stop tracking at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking, and reset your Advertising Identifier on your device. You can also remove ads entirely with the Remove Ads purchase. If you would like help with a request about advertising data, email us and we will pass it on to the advertising provider or explain how to contact them.

10Children

Scope is a business tool. It is not directed at children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age in your country, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will help.

11Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information, to object to processing, to withdraw consent and to data portability. Because we do not hold your data, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device or with the advertising provider. We are happy to help: email us at moonfruitdev@outlook.com.

Some US state laws treat personalised advertising as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell your personal information for money. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time by choosing Ask App Not to Track or turning off tracking in Settings.

UK and EU users also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

12Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if the App gains new features or changes advertising provider. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest revision. Material changes will be reflected here and, where appropriate, in the App or on the App Store.
